Ukrainian forces have carried out a series of drone strikes on multiple bridges connecting Crimea to the southern front lines, targeting critical logistics routes used by Russian forces. The attacks, which occurred over the past week, were conducted by the 1st Separate Assault Regiment of Ukraine\u2019s armed forces, according to social media posts and official statements.<\/p>\n
The operations focused on bridges in the Armyansk, Henichesk, and Chonhar areas, which are positioned between 50 and 75 miles from the front lines. These bridges are vital for the Kremlin\u2019s supply chains to the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. The regiment stated that it attacked four critical bridges used for logistics, and some strikes were coordinated with the 475th Assault Regiment and the Security Service of Ukraine\u2019s elite Alpha unit.<\/p>\n
Footage released by the regiment shows first-person-view drone recordings of uncrewed systems repeatedly striking the asphalt surfaces of the bridges from above. The clips, posted over a five-day period on social media, depict at least two bridges burning and showing structural damage.<\/p>\n
The 1st Separate Assault Regiment reported using two types of mid-range drones in the attacks. The FirePoint FP-2 has a wingspan of 18 feet and carries a 220-pound explosive payload. The Hippo drone has a wingspan of 7.5 feet and is equipped with a 77-pound thermobaric payload plus 88 pounds of explosives.<\/p>\n
Pro-Russian authorities in the region confirmed the strikes. Vladimir Saldo, the Kremlin-appointed governor of Kherson, stated on Thursday that bridges in Armyansk had been targeted by at least 45 drone attacks. \u201cAccording to preliminary reports, some damage has occurred. Experts are conducting an inspection and assessing the condition of the structures,\u201d Saldo wrote in an update.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Saldo warned of approximately 20 drone attacks on the bridge serving Chonhar and announced that traffic on that route was closed. His office later suggested alternative traffic routes to bypass affected areas and said civilian passenger buses in the region would be halted due to fuel shortages.<\/p>\n

Damage assessments by Russian authorities are ongoing. Traffic remains restricted on some bridge routes, and officials have advised civilian detours. Continued drone operations against logistics infrastructure are anticipated as Ukraine seeks to disrupt supply lines supporting Russian ground forces in southern Ukraine.
